Friday Night Deals!

Hello everyone! It's time for the weekly "Friday Night Deals" where you can find out where the sales are and what giveaways you can enter!

It's not as big of a list as last week (which I'm a little happy about because I'm completely exhausted right now!) but maybe that's a good thing for all the shoppers out there? Not so many places to visit, and decisions not so tough as to where you spend your money!

Like last week, I'm starting with giveaways, and there's only one to report!

I so love White Flag's products! My fave is still the glow in the dark brain soap! So here's the deal with her blog giveaway.. Once White Flag Designs Blog ("The White List") has reached 100 followers, she's going to assign all the followers a number (based on the order they followed at) and use random.org to choose the winner. And the winner will win... "A Priority Mail flat rate box, size small, full of stuff. From my Etsy shops stuff, not just random stuff I found under my bed (unless you want that kind of stuff, idk). Stuff like soaps, lip balms, solid scents (all vegan, mind you), jewelry and accessories, and even maybe super secret sneak peeks at things yet to come." How great is that!! It's like Christmas - my favourite kinds of giveaways. So, head on over to "The White List", follow the blog and post a comment! And to get this giveaway really movin', feel free to twitter, facebook or blog about it yourselves! (The pictures are linked to their listings on etsy)

Now on to the sales!

I've been following Moon and Sundries on Facebook for awhile now, and always love seeing her new creations! She's having a weekend sale, so hurry on over to her Etsy Shop and buy away!
10/30/09--> WEEKEND BOGO SALE!
Buy one piece of Pressed Leaf Jewelry and get one piece (of equal or lesser value) FREE!
Simply purchase both pieces you'd like, type "WEEKEND DEALS" in the 'message to seller' during checkout and the difference will be promptly refunded via Paypal.
Sale runs through Sunday night at midnight EST!
Contact her with any questions... moonandsundries [!at] gmail.com

Kathie Stamou is an accessory artist and I have to admit I spent a long time on her shop looking around at everything! She's having a holiday sale, so all her Phone Pulls have been marked down half price to $7.50! AND you could get a free phone pull with a purchase of 2 items or more!! So you need to head on over to Kathie's shop, and look at more than just phone pulls! Maybe I just really love circles, but the necklace and earring set is freakin' amazing! :)

Meet Red from Crystalized Intentions! We started stalking eachother recently, and Red was kind enough to let me in on a few sales she currently has going in her shop! Firstly, follow Red on Twitter or fan her Facebook! Through those 2 venues you'll be able to find out what the "Shop item of the day" is, and if you're purchasing that shop item of the day? You get 10% off!

Red also has a deal going on every Friday! It's called "5 dollar fridays" where buy any item in her shop, and get a pair of earrings for $5! And as a special bonus - $5 dollar Fridays is still valid when buying a "Shop item of the day!"

Alright guys, that's all I got for now! I'm going to bed! Gotta get up bright and early and get my giveaway posted. Remember, all pics are directly linked to their listings! Have a good Friday Night!!

Friday Feature! - Wendance Designs

Good morning everyone! I'm a little late in starting this because I had to drive back to  my husbands work after I dropped him off because he forgot something really important! hehe. So I'm a little behind schedule, but hey, atleast it's still morning!

Today's feature is on the wonderfully talented and incredibly nice Wendance Designs! I'm pretty sure we met in chats a while ago (that's where I meet most of these talented etsians!) and I became a fan of her work immediately! As usual, all the pics are linked directly to their etsy listings, so click away to find out more details! Sit back and relax this Friday morning, and meet the person behind Wendance!

1. Let us know a bit about yourself!

Hi!! My name is Wendy and I live in the capital of Canada - Ottawa, Ontario. I am married to a very supportive husband and we have a dependent cat, named Cuddles. I love to scrapbook, make cards and dabble in photography. I also teach card making and scrapbooking techniques. By day, I am a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I have taught in the classroom for many years, mostly junior high, but now I work one-on-one with students.

2. When did you start crafting?  Do you do different crafts then just what you sell on Etsy?

I have been making and creating things for as long as I can remember. I have made many scrapbook albums of our trips. Currently, I am the guest designer at Scrapshotz. It is an online scrapbook store and forum out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

3. What was the sole purpose of opening your shop?

I have been selling my cards to friends and family for the last few years to "support my habit" of scrapbooking! :) I decided to open up my Etsy shop just this past summer.

4. How did you decide on a shop name?

The name, Wendance Designs, comes from my stepdad. He called me Wendance for as long as I can remember. A few years ago, he got sick and I decided to create a stamp that I would use to *initial* all of my cards. Now, each card I made has my stamp - Wendance Designs - on the back.

5. What is your favourite item to create, and why?

My favourite cards to make are custom cards. I love to try and make the perfect card for someone. If a person is able to describe what they are looking for, I take pride in being able to find the right stamp, patterned paper and embellishment to make them excited to give the card to that special someone.

6. What venues to you use to promote your work?

I promote my cards through word of mouth, co-workers, friends and family. Online, I have a blog that is for all of my scrapbooking and cardmaking. I am on Facebook as well so please become a fan! I am so close to 100 fans! I also have a Twitter account so feel free to follow me there as well! I try to participate on the Etsy chat as much as possible, as I have had most of my online sales from there.

7. Which venues are your favourite to use?

My favourite method of promotion is definitely word of mouth, co-workers, friends and family - probably because it has brought me the most sales. I am averaging about 100 cards a month! I would love for my online sales to pick up!

8. Where do you see yourself in 5 years concerning your crafting business?

In 5 years, I would like to be teaching more scrapbooking classes, and selling more of my cards to a larger audience.

9. Is there any other information you'd like to share with anyone?

Mention that you saw me featured on this blog, and get 20% off in my Etsy shop! Refunds will be done through paypal!

10. Name a few of your favourite things!

My favourite things are definitely patterned paper, tools and techniques and bling! Outside of scrapbooking and cardmaking - family time, special friends and my cat, Cuddles!

11. If you had a super power, what would it be and why?

To stop people suffering from all of the horrible diseases that are so prominent in out society today.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks Feature Friday!! Please feel free to comment and let this etsian know if you love her work! And do yourselves a favour and follow/fan her Blog, Facebook, and on Twitter so you can continue to get to know Wendy even more! Have a great Friday everyone, and don't forget to check back later today for my weekly "Friday Night Deals"!!

Special Feature!! -Jenjie

Good morning everyone! We have a special Thursday feature for you (to make up for the slack of last weeks NO features) and I'm very excited to introduce you to Jenjie!! Jenjie and I first met on Facebook when we became fans of eachother, and after I poked around in her shop I found out how much I love her products! All pics are linked to their listings on Etsy, so feel free to click away for more details! Sit back and relax this morning kids, and meet Jenjie!

1. Tell us a bit about yourself!

Hi, I am Jenjie, or Jennifer Head. I live in the North GA mountains in the small town of Dahlonega. I live there with my husband of 16 years, and my two children Joseph (11) and Genevieve (7). I am a homeschooling work at home MOM and I love it! I just made the switch from the corporate world to SAHM almost 1 year ago, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. We stay very busy with Boy Scouts and Clogging and well, life!

2. When did you start crafting? Who/what inspired you to become an artist? Do you do different crafts than what we see on Etsy?

I started crafting as a child. My grandmother (Mama Cook) was a seamstress and I loved to watch her work. I would beg her to let me have her scraps to sew with, and as I got older, she let me help her quilt some. I never stopped! I cross stitch, crochet, sew, and have just started felting. I am always looking for something new to try. I am thinking of trying dolls and plushies next! :)

3. What was the sole purpose of opening your shop?

I opened my shop because I wanted to see if I could find a market for my items. When I decided to quit my real job and homeschool, it seemed like this was the best venue to try.

4. How did you decide on a shop name?

My shop name is a nickname that my Mom had for me as a child. I wanted a name that was different, something that would stand out.

5. What is your favourite item to create and why?

My favourite item to create is leg warmers. I want to keep them all because I love to be warm and snuggly! I like to think that at the end of a long, stressful day, they bring comfort.

6. What venues do you use to promote your work?

Promotion is something I have had to learn to love. I use Facebook, Twitter, Blog, and Etsy chat! Anything I can find. I think I get the most responses from Twitter. If I Tweet about a listing, I get a large number of views quickly. I like using Facebook best because I feel more interactive.

7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years concerning your crafting business?

In fine years I hope to be doing a brisk business! LOL! I hope that I have found my niche, and developed a steady clientele. I hope to see the Handmade purchases increase and less Mega store.

8. Is there any other information you'd like to share?

I am now offering FREE U.S. SHIPPING on all items. I will have a lot of great new items as well so check back often. New felted items are going to be popping up soon as well. Plus, for every 50 fan mark we hit, I host a giveaway on my Facebook Fan Page.

9. Name a few of your favourite things!

Chai tea, chick flicks, Christian Novels, the beach anytime, getting to visit my family, hanging out with my kids, hiking in the mountains, and visiting the apple orchards in the fall.

10. If you had a super power, what would it be and why?

If I had a super power, it would be flight. Then I could travel whenever I wanted without worrying about gas prices!

There you have it everyone! I hope you really enjoyed getting to know a little bit about Jenjie! Make sure you visit her Etsy, Blog, Facebook and Twitter where you can heart, follow, fan and follow again, so you can keep up to date on what this creative Etsian is doing! Thanks for stopping by!

Please feel free to comment on the features - all etsians love feedback! Plus, how am I doing on these features? Is there anything else you'd like me to be asking these creative folks??

Big Big BIG News!

Ooh this is a little strange. I just recently switched my blog to the new editing program and it's all different! Dang, another new thing I have to learn.

So I was thinking, why not make Wednesday's special?! So from now on, I'm going to include some "How-To's"... How To Wednesdays!! How does that sound? Now that makes my job here a little harder, because now I have to think about what the heck to 'how to' lol. I'm not going to start one today (since I just thought of this last night) but I think i'll be adding in some really great things. (Stuff you may not even see on either of my Etsy sites!) For example.. How to make puppets! I LOVE puppets, and have made some fast and simple puppets that I'll share with everyone. (No sewing required!). But, until I decide what my first 'How-To" Wednesday will be, I'll give you a link to tide you over! hehe. Head on over to "Instructables" to find a whole bunch of cool things to make! Believe me, it'll keep ya busy!

In other news, I'm having an extra Feature this week! Since I missed out on both last week, I figured what the hey, I'll do a special feature on Thursday and my regular one on Friday to make up for the slack! So make sure you stop in tomorrow to read all about Jenjie!!

Okay can I just say how much I already love this editing program?? See, whenever I linked something before (and when I'd do a feature, I'd be linking every site they mention and every single picture to the etsy site) and the only way to test whether the sites even worked was to publish the post, and click on every single link to make sure it went where I wanted it to. But now! Now when you enter the link, it says "Test this link" so ya click it, and walla! It opens a new window to the link! So now I know they all work *before* I post it! Yippee!!

Alright, now to get back on schedule. So, you may have noticed the title, that there's some Big Big BIG news, yes? Well....

I'm having another giveaway!!

It will be starting this Saturday, October 31st!! The prize?? Will be a set of 10 Christmas cards! I'll add in pics and choices (because I love giving choices of prizes!) on Saturday. There's going to be a LOT of ways to win! This will specifically be a blog giveaway, which means all comments need to be directed here, unlike my last giveaway. Lemme tell ya it got really confusing when I was trying to keep track of all the entries from all the sites lol. I'll be including 5 venues that you can use to gain entries (Blog, Facebook, Twitter, My Craft Corner and of course Etsy) so you'll have lots of choices even if you don't use all of these. So stay tuned everyone! Make sure you come back here on Saturday, October 31st to read all the info and start piling up those entries!

Okay, I think that's it for now! I may be back later, depending on what goes on today. I lead a very madcap life y'know. Projects and Patience can change on a dime...

Have a great Wednesday!

Getting to know you Tuesday! - CarFarmCreations!

Good morning everyone! I've been waiting for a while to feature this young lady hehe - She was supposed to be my feature last week, but her internet decided to stop working correctly (It was Rogers after all - completely understandable!) But now everything's all good!

Rebecca from CarFarmCreations was one of my first friends I made on Etsy! I was in the chats one night and I had gotten a private message from her asking a photography print question. It was so great to meet a fellow photographer, especially one that was so nice! (on a side note, the only other photographer I had any contact with on Etsy was a real @$ and putting down my work- but I've since met a lot more friendly fellow photographers!) I always have so much fun talking with Rebecca, and I absolutely love all her work! So sit back and relax kids, it's time to meet the etsian behind CarFarmCreations! Keep in mind, all photos are linked directly to their listings on etsy, so click away my friends!

1. Let us know a bit about yourself!

My name is Rebecca and I currently live in South Cayuga, Ontario.

2. When did you start crafting? What/who inspired you to become an artist? Do you do different crafts that just what you sell on etsy?

I have always been crafty, or "artsy fartsy" if you would! It is in my blood. My mom has always been arty and I remember my grandpa drawing, but he was more of a tinkerer! And isn't that just another way of being crafty? So I don't think I really had a choice of being any other way. I dabble in a bit of everything... I paint, I do photography, collage, sculpt, build things, make jewellery, knit (sort of!), doodle, and I used to do hemp necklaces too (way back when). What you see on etsy is only what I have time for at the moment. I would love to have way more, but all in good time I guess.

3. What was the sole purpose of opening your shop?

I needed something for *me*. I needed an outlet. I needed something else to define me. I love being a mom, but I find that as much as we praise the stay at home moms, some people look down on them as well. So, I felt like unless I was wearing 200 different hats (mom, cook, maid, nurse, and wife weren't good enough I guess) that people some how take you as an underachiever. As being unsuccessful. I just really wanted to change that impression. I had always wanted art to be my main profession, and I guess this just gave me the push, and the need, to do more, and *be* more. To prove my worth as woman, and as an artist. I needed to be creative again.

4. How did you decide on a shop name?

I live on a farm we jokingly call "The Car Farm". My fiance bought the farm years before I met him and he had used it primarily for all things 'car'. So, since most of the work I do is here, it felt only right to call my shop "CarFarmCreations".

5. What is your favourite item to create and why?

I honestly don't have one favourite item. Everything I do becomes my favourite! Like the scarf I just knitted for myself. It will never be sold, and it was really just a test to see if I could knit. But the satisfaction of completing something that I love, makes it my favourite. Well, maybe I have two! Paintings I did while in university. I think they may be my overall favourite things I have done. One is a nude and the other is an image I found of the Iraq War (it was a real night vision photo, the scene and players are the same, I just added my own style). Both were done in oil. But I couldn't just have one thing I would do for the rest of my life, like just paint or just take pictures. I would get bored!

6. What venues do you use to promote your work?

Um, not that many, and not that well! I use Facebook, Twitter, and I just started listing on Artfire (I only have one listing so far). I really have to just get over my networking fears and really get myself out there for the world to see. I like that Artfire is free for 12 listings, but i like Etsy's ease of use. And honestly Twitter is only used when I remember that I have it set up! Facebook is a good way for my friends to see my shop without me forcing it on them, they have the choice whether to fan me and see what I'm doing and get updates on my work. I also have a CarFarmCreations blog!

7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years concerning your crafting business?

In 5 years my son will be in school, and I will have more time to devote to my art. So even though I am starting slowly, I hope that by the time he is in school, I should really have an established shop, look, and style to call my own. I, like most people I think, would love for my art to be successful. For there to be a place for it.

8. Is there any other information you'd like to share with anyone?

I am always having sales! I tend to display the sale information on my promotional venues like Facebook or Twitter, so it pays to follow/fan me and keep an eye out! I currently have one posted on Facebook right now, so head on over there to check it out. I'm also working on having a contest soon, but not completely sure when I want to have it though. But I will definitely keep everyone posted!

9. Name a few of your favourite things!

When babies giggle, new pens & pencils and all that kind of stuff, art supplies, the smell of a new baby, and the smell after it rains, hugs, compliments, TV, random dancing, getting mail (NOT bills!), museums and art galleries, accents and oh, about a million other things!

10. If you had a super power, what would it be, and why?

Today, I just wish I were fast and organized! But I'd have to say teleporting because my family lives so far away.

Alright everyone, I hope you enjoyed this Tuesdays Feature! Please make sure to stop by Rebecca's Blog, Facebook, Twitter and especially Etsy Shop to take a look, say hey, and follow! She's a great girl and I look forward to getting to know her better!
